Media Center Hours: 8:25 am to 3:35 pm

Procedures:
- Students may checkout 2 books at one time.
- Book checkout duration periods are for 2 weeks at a time. Books may also be renewed.
- Students must have a Media Center Pass that is signed by a teacher before coming to the Media Center.
- There are 7 desktop computers available for student use in the media center.
- Students also have access to a printer.

Policies:
- Students with overdue books or materials will not be allowed to check out any materials until the overdue item is returned. New students will also not be allowed to check out materials until previous school debts have been satisfied.
- Also, if a student loses or damages any library materials they are expected to pay the replacement or repair cost of the items. - ---Therefore, students who lose or return irreparable materials will be assessed the market cost of the item. Records are maintained of these lost materials in order that replacement materials might be purchased in the future.
- Furthermore, final report cards will be held until outstanding fees are collected.
If a student is withdrawn from school this information will be sent along to the new school.

Destiny is the school library catalog.
Find the Destiny App on your Rapid Identity platform. Use it to search, access and read eBooks. Destiny can also be used to reserve and place on hold print books. The print/ physical books can be picked up from school by following the curbside checkout procedures.

Sora Reading App
Look for the Sora Reading App in your Rapid Identity Account platform. There are a number of eBooks that are ready for use.

 mackinvia app  MackinVIA eBooks is another source of eBooks that are ready to be used.  
 comicsplus  Comics Plus has thousands of graphic novel eBooks that can be accessed and are ready to be read online. Comics Plus® gives you unlimited, 24/7 access to thousands of digital comic books, graphic novels, and manga. Click on the video above to learn how to access Comics Plus.

Virtual eBook Checkout

Our Destiny Library Catalog includes e-Books that are available for virtual checkout.

Digital Public Library Cards

Procedures:
- Each student can request a digital library card by going to https://tinyurl.com/publiclibrarycard to submit a request. The student name, birth date, and student number are needed.  
- If a student already has a physical library card, the student can use those credentials. There is no need to request a second public library card.

§ GALILEO is an online library portal to authoritative, subscription-only information that isn’t available through free search engines or Web directories. 

§ From the Britannica School Web sitestudents can conduct research using thousands upon thousands of searchable encyclopedia journal articles, images, videos, audios, curated primary sources with curriculum relevance, detailed maps, editor-recommended Web sites, learning games, a world atlas, and a wealth of how-to research tools.

§  Generate citations for your bibliography.

§  The World Factbook provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities.

§  In the classroom and at home, students use Popplet for learning. Used as a mind-map, Popplet helps students think and learn visually. Students can capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between them.

Sequoyah Middle is fortunate to provide full access to all students and staff in our fully operational Media Center.  Students have access to a library of books, novels, and research-based materials.  The technology provided in our Media Center to ALL students and staff is exemplary.

Please note that all technology provided for student use is to be used as aligned with the district and school protocol while being used.
